Employers started AFMH in 2023 to raise awareness among policymakers about the high prices we pay for healthcare in Wisconsin and the impact it has on employers, employees, and their families.
In the short time we’ve been active, AFMH has:
- Helped stop proposals that undermine cost-saving tools available to employers such as white bagging, mail order, and copay accumulator programs.
- Visited the state Capitol to introduce our proactive legislative agenda and communicate that employers will no longer sit on the sidelines when it comes to health policy.
- Met with legislative leadership and the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) to stress the importance of true price transparency in healthcare.

Mission
We amplify the collective voice of employers on health policy matters that impact employees and their families and, by extension, healthcare consumers in general.
Vision
- We believe government action is critical to removing constraints to free market healthcare.
- We recognize our role in fostering a compassionate, ethical, and sustainable healthcare environment that allows consumers to make informed decisions based on price and quality.
- We oppose policies limiting employers’ ability to design affordable benefit plans that meet their employees’ needs – without eroding their paychecks.
- We work collaboratively with lawmakers and other organizations to realign financial incentives and steer healthcare dollars toward high value healthcare.
- We shine a light on anticompetitive forces in healthcare that may be enabled by ill-advised health policy decisions.
Guiding Principles
- Establish policy positions in the best interests of those who bear the cost burden of healthcare in the US – employers, their families, taxpayers and employers.
- Operate with integrity and use data to form positions whenever possible.
- Remain nonpartisan and work toward employer consensus on health policy issues impacting employees and their companies.
- Seek to collaborate with individuals and organizations that share our goals.
- Work to protect or improve access to high-value healthcare options in all regions of Wisconsin through advocacy and our role as healthcare purchasers.
